Briefly describe the program, volunteer work, or partnerships you or your organization may offer.
I am a researcher and teacher focused on the compounding of inequality for marginalized populations, specifically working with agricultural communities. My most recent research project focuses on the resiliency strategies developed and used by marginalized (diaspora, BIPOC, immigrant, and/or refugee) agricultural communities here in the Pacific Northwest when faced with disruptions such as climate change, political extremism, natural disasters, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, I conducted research on issues of land ownership and forest access by Indigenous Peoples in Southeast Asia. I study marginalized and underserved communities’ access to natural resources, the process of claims-making, and changing perceptions of rights. I primarily use ethnographic field methods, surveys, participatory mapping, and participatory photography for my research.
