Briefly describe the program, volunteer work, or partnerships you or your organization may offer.
Over the years, I've been a mentor in several forms, from one-on-one reading help for elementary school children to coaching BIPOC law school students in writing and test-taking skills. As a manager of non-profits as well as state and local government agencies, I've helped many co-workers and volunteers develop their project organization and management skills.

You have indicated an expertise in Law and Public Service
I was a licensed attorney in Alaska but I used my legal training in public policy areas rather than in "traditional" law. I discovered that a legal background was invaluable in my non-profit work. It was also hugely helpful in my government jobs which included three years as director of the Anchorage mayor's Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and 8 years directing the state OMB for Alaska's former Democratic governor. In both cases, I focused on broader involvement in the budget process (e.g. agency heads, labor unions, non-profit service providers, local civic groups), better media coverage to improve public understanding of budget constraints, and implementing computer systems that modernized the complex annual budget process and made it easily accessible to the Legislature and the general public.
